Reminds me of a story mt brother tells ...
A successful artist feels the need to get away from it all and buys a big parcel of land in the mountains of WVa. After weeks of isolation, his nearest neighbor stops by to introduce himself and invites him to a party on Saturday night.
"I have to warn you, though, that there will be some drinking."
No problem.
"And there's likely to be some cursing:
No problem.
"And there might be some fighting"
Not my style, but not a show stopper
"and there might be some sex"
Well ... umm ... what should I wear?
"Doesn't matter. Or did they just make stuff, meet up and talk, and convince themselves that they jointly came up with a philosophy after the fact, or maybe simultaneously. I don't know enough about the histories of these movements to say one way or the other.

You may be looking for things in the wrong places. That is, it's possible that the standards you want artists to meet, are not being met in popular online web sites. And maybe you shouldn't expect that. But I don't have any suggestions about where else to look. I'm one of those people who don't study all the 'isms before pressing the button. Or is it just “here’s something to look at”?
2. If more than just something to look at, how successfully is this intent communicated?
3. Is there any degree of ambiguity in 2. that allows the audience to overlay their own perceptions - if appropriate.
4. Does the audience understand the intent (how much knowledge is required)? And also, is the audience interested in the intent?

As just a bloke with a camera, I’d suggest 2, 3 & (unfortunately) 4 contribute to what the audience consider to be good or bad art.
Cheers,
Not THAT Ross CameronAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-654754338632526091.post-45714788728770204442019-01-23T17:19:20.632-08:002019-01-23T17:19:20.632-08:00Thanks!
