Smiling is an underexplored feminist issue, I think. People who talk through a permanent smile (not only women) come across as insincere, ingratiating, and irritating, especially when the "smile" has permanently pervaded the voice (many radio presenters). A big BAM smile is as much a power-play as big booming voice.<br /><br />OTOH I don't smile much because I have missing teeth.
